But this is not all. What stands out is its unique technology behind this singular product that have been specially developed by our German engineers.
The development of BIZOL Green Oil+ began in 2015 mirroring the industry efforts to address new lubrication challenges associated with the introduction of gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology as a part of the ILSAC GF-6 specification development. At that time, already nearly 50% of new cars were fitted with a GDI engine. Nowadays, GDI is the dominant type of gasoline engine technology for cars. Such a wide acceptance of the GDI technology was due to improved fuel economy and reduced green-house gas emissions it offered compared to traditional port fuel injection (PFI) engines. Unfortunately, it did not come without complications. One particular problem that was plaguing GDI engines was “super-knock” due to instable combustion. The technical name for it is Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI). Ironically, LSPI and knocking tend to become more prominent in the operating regime that is most beneficial to attaining improved fuel economy. More about it
One can list more than a dozen of factors potentially triggering LSPI and knocking events. Apart from the engine design, high peak cylinder pressure due to engine boosting, use of low-quality gasoline, use of lean fuel/air mixtures, and use of low-quality crankcase lubricants are among the factors associated with an increased LSPI and knocking risk. LSPI is often triggered during cold engine start, at low engine speeds and under high load, with expensive engine damage as a result.
The first motor oil specification that required LSPI testing was API SN Plus introduced in November 2017 and licensable since May 2018. All current specifications, including ILSAC GF-6, API SP, and ACEA 2021, also require LSPI testing of lubricants using a special engine test, known as Sequence IX. BIZOL R&D team was proud and happy to be in the forefront of those developments working closely with leading research centres, OEMs and additive companies.
